Just because...

Just because it is Friday today, I thought it would be great tohave a second post to share with you, with some things the kids made last night.
Once a week we have pizza night, and you know that we make homemade dough for it. We had some dough left over and the kids had asked if they could use it. I said sure why not. So after they ate and washed their hands they got busy in the kitchen. I sneaked a glimpse to see what thy where doing and saw that they were using some cookie cutters. How creative of them.
So this is what they  made :
Homemade shaped bread. How cool is that? All we need now is some "Hummus" to go with it.

I sure love my kids and their creativity.I can not wait to taste some of their yummy bread, lol.
Happy Friday and have a nice weekend.

You asked for it...

You asked for it.....and I deliver.

Lets backtrack just a little:
A few days ago I have gotten some "Happy Mail" with gorgeous fabric in it. It was a gift from my best friend. She blogged about it, saying/writing that it would be nice to show the things I would make from them. How could I not?!.
Sooo, this is what I made today.

Front

Back
I made a pillow using this tutorial. I guess after seeing all the wonderful pillows you had made recently, it was time for me to make some too. I am in love with the "Atlanta Star" quilt you made for me, and now thanks to you,  I will have some beautiful pillows to go with it. I still need to make one more like this, and then I think I will make some smaller ones and some other things.
You will just have to wait and see, lol.

Almost wordless Thursday

Sami's new hobby

It was very cute and fascinating to watch him. He was so “absorbed” that he did not even know I was taking pictures of him, lol.

Have a glimpse

This is my NEW sewing machine, lol.
(sure wish I had a new one, mine start acting up a little. What sewing machine do you recommend?)

I still need to ad some letter applique and then decide what I' m making out of it.  Should I make a pillow or a Wall hanging out of it ( it measures about 20x20)?! What do you like better?
Did you have a nice weekend? I sure did.

Finished

Thanks to you, I did decided to go for the casserole holder . Like you said it would be to pretty to be hidden away.
So this is how I made the back
And when I was finished with it, I sandwiched everything together and thought I should quilt it like you did with the Atlanta Star quilt, or sooo I thought.
Here is how I drew my lines on it

Pretty don't you think? Well I had to try out my free motion sewing at first on a piece of scrap. Thinking it would not be sooooo hard to do, lol. Well take a look for yourself what I ended up with

This is calling for a personal lesson when you come to visit, lol
Thank goodness I tried on a piece of scrap first, because otherwise it would have been ruined. So my mind went like this: Oh crap, What now? Then I remembered on your blog, that you had drawn some diagonal lines on one of your projects before. This is when it came to me that it be safer for me to do so too. So I drew on some lines like this
Sorry for that bad picture
After that all I had to do is was to quilt it and ad some binding to it. Here is the finished product

Now I need to somehow remove the lines. Any suggestion on how to remove them? Did I mention that I did use a Mark-be-gone marker?

Hexagon makings

This is what I ended up making yesterday

It's a piece of  linen fabric with some hexagons sewn to it. I am still debating if I should ad some Insul-batting and a back so it could be used for a casserole holder or leave it like this and just have it hanging on the oven handle. What do you thing?

*When I first made the small hexagons, I thought I would be stitching them together so the would look like flowers. But when I started to sew them together they did not turn out like I thought they should. I guess it looked easier then it really is. Making them was really easy, but  sewing them together is a hole different chapter, lol.
Any suggestions?

WIP Wednesday

I decided to dedicate Wednesday's to be my WIP's on all sorts of projects. It will help me stay focused on what I want to do/finish and I have time set aside for it.
Here is what I am currently working on. Thanks to your generous gift of fabrics I want to make several things from them. I started making some hexagons out of them and sure am impressed of how easy they are to make ( I always thought they are to hard to make). I came across this tutorial on how to make them. Have you made some before?
Here are some pictures of me making them:

What are you working on right now?

What a bummer

Look what came back in mail mail today:

I mailed my "Holiday" mail out last week, and this is what came back in my mail today. It's only one (of course it had to be the one that I mailed for my "Omi"grandma) but it makes me wonder if more will follow?! I'll guess this is what I get for mailing them out from my house and not the Post office. So next time I make sure I mail it out at the post office. I applied more postage, and hope they will send it out this time.
By the way, when I went to mail the surprise box to you this is what I discovered

Sami added his own little message to the box. When I asked him what he had wrote he said:
Merry X-mas.
How cute is that?

Meet Hoot

May I introduce

Hoot

I still had some felt left over from some of my projects I have made, so I decided to make a little Hoot out of it. Still a little imperfect and a few changes  need to be made, but over all
a cute little fellow. Don't you think?
Have a great weekend!

Attic treasures

Do you remember when  we first moved in our new/old house that I told you we had found some great little things in the attic? Well I thought today be a great day to show you one of the things that I found.
I never heard of that company before . I 'm not sure if I'm going to use them but most likely will display them somewhere for decoration.
*Not much crafting is going on at the moment,my hands are kind of aching from all the " hand" sewing I have done in the past few weeks. But it was all worth it, lol.
*And most of my x-mas cards have been sent out. Gifts have been wrapped up and boxed up and ready to be mailed out with the hope that they will reach their destination in time.
* Finally I'm so glad it is friday and look forward to spend a quiet (maybe not soooo quiet) weekend with my family, lol.
What are your plans this weekend?
Take care
