It feels like summer has arrived and that in mid February. I have never experienced anything like that.
Don't take me wrong I am not complaining, I really do enjoy this weather.
The kids already asking to wear Flip-Flops and T-Shirts to school.
Next week I will try to post and update you a little more.

Something sweet...

Today I thought why not share something sweet with you for a change.

Sweet Cherry Muffin

Here is what you will need for a dozen: 

100 ml neutral  vegetable cooking oil

200 ml buttermilk

1 Egg

250 g Flour (I used regular unbleached flour)

2 tsp. baking powder

150 g sugar (I used 100 g)

1 pack. Vanilla sugar

1 can or jar pitted cherries (drained and chopped in pieces)( if you do not like cherries you can use any other canned fruit) 

Preheat oven to 375 F or 160 C.

In medium bowl whisk oil, buttermilk and egg until well blended. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar and vanilla sugar. Mix and  add to the liquid mixture. Whisk well until smooth and add chopped cherries. Scoop in a paper lined muffin tray and bake for apr.20 minutes.

Have a glimpse

This is my NEW sewing machine, lol.
(sure wish I had a new one, mine start acting up a little. What sewing machine do you recommend?)

I still need to ad some letter applique and then decide what I' m making out of it.  Should I make a pillow or a Wall hanging out of it ( it measures about 20x20)?! What do you like better?

What a bummer

Look what came back in mail mail today:

I mailed my "Holiday" mail out last week, and this is what came back in my mail today. It's only one (of course it had to be the one that I mailed for my "Omi"grandma) but it makes me wonder if more will follow?! I'll guess this is what I get for mailing them out from my house and not the Post office. So next time I make sure I mail it out at the post office. I applied more postage, and hope they will send it out this time.

By the way, when I went to mail the surprise box to you this is what I discovered

Sami added his own little message to the box. When I asked him what he had wrote he said:

Merry X-mas.

How cute is that?

I still had some felt left over from some of my projects I have made, so I decided to make a little Hoot out of it. Still a little imperfect and a few changes  need to be made, but over all

 a cute little fellow. Don't you think?

Attic treasures

Do you remember when  we first moved in our new/old house that I told you we had found some great little things in the attic? Well I thought today be a great day to show you one of the things that I found.

I never heard of that company before . I 'm not sure if I'm going to use them but most likely will display them somewhere for decoration.

*Not much crafting is going on at the moment,my hands are kind of aching from all the " hand" sewing I have done in the past few weeks. But it was all worth it, lol.

*And most of my x-mas cards have been sent out. Gifts have been wrapped up and boxed up and ready to be mailed out with the hope that they will reach their destination in time.

* Finally I'm so glad it is friday and look forward to spend a quiet (maybe not soooo quiet) weekend with my family, lol.

Can you believe it is Wednesday already? Seems like time is flying by so fast. I finally had some time to clean "my" little corner of the house. It normally does not look so clean, but since I cleaned it (to be honest the only reason I cleaned it is because I am  looking for something I misplaced), I thought I will snap a picture of it and share it with you. Looking at the picture, something is missing

Can you spot it? You're right, I am missing a design/inspiration wall. How do you create/make one? And what kind of ideas do you have? Anything be helpful.My mind is just notworking right at the moment, lol.

Still here

I'm still here. Things have been pretty bussy here.With Thanksgiving behind (we had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Turkey, potatodumplings and "blaukraut"and best of all my family) and the holidays ahead fast aproaching I am not sure if I get everything done and mailed out in time.
I wish I could show you some of the things I have finished but that would spoil the surprise, so I guess you have to wait just a little longer lol.

Yummie Science

Nadia had to do a science project yesterday. She had to come up with a animal cell. After doing a little research on the Internet, she decided to bake the project and then decorate it  to make it look like an animal cell ( I don't remember me learning about that back when I was in school. Do you?) Anyway she did a really nice job and I am so jealous of her class, because they get to eat it the cake after her teacher graded it.

Sure looks yummie to me.

Where in the world have you been before?                       

Pretty neat to see where we have been before, I think I have marked every country I have visited or lived before. For my next project I would like to get a mid-sized world map and use pins and thread to mark every country and city me and my family had ever been to. I think it would be a great wall feature.

What are your thoughts on this?

Getting creative

So I gathered up some scrap fabric and bought some flour sack towels with the idea to make my own embelished kitchen towels ( I really do not like the ones you buy in the store.).I also would like to make some more mug rugs and costers and place mates.And also I need to get started on some holiday gifts.

But looking at my scrapes makes me relize that I need some different fabric. I hope I will be able to finish everything up in time.

Also I found this awesome cup today.It kind of reminds of a quilting/sewing project.

Can not wait to have some hot cocoa in it.

Fall Cleaning

With it getting colder and wet outside, I thought today  would be a great fall clean up day since it is nice and kind of warm for a change. Let me tell you, it is not one off my favorite things to do. But one has to do what one has to do LOL.Only thing left to do is to figure out how to clean my windows from the outside ( they have storm windows attached to the outside). They are in desperate need off cleaning.
Hope Al can help me this weekend with it.

Is it a quilt or a blanket?

I finished up Nadia's quilt. And I am really pleased how it turned out. I went to 3 different stores to find the backing for it but could not find a blue I/she liked. So i settled for a off white/cream fleece backing. I think it is the perfect fit for it.

My question for you now is, is it considered a blanket or a quilt? I'm not sure what to call it because I sewed it together different this time

What do think?

Also I was able to go to the post office today and when I came home I had the perfect cup off

 German coffee

 and a piece off Lebkuchen(gingerbread cookie). After all it is perfect for weather looking like this
